Meet Matthew Digati
Born and raised in Buffalo, NY, I discovered my passion for architectural photography early in life within the inspiring architecture of my hometown. This early interest guided me to a career capturing the beauty of my city’s historic buildings and structures.
My photographic journey includes extensive work throughout the United States. I spent a transformative year in Aspen, Colorado, where I documented some of the most iconic residences in the Rocky Mountains. Back in Buffalo, I’ve had the privilege of photographing nearly every significant architectural landmark, including both Frank Lloyd Wright’s Darwin Martin House and Graycliff Estates, the The Richardson Hotel, and Seneca One Tower.
Photographing historic architecture has become both a specialty and a responsibility I value deeply. I’m extremely appreciative of each opportunity I have to capture historic work of note. This responsibility and appreciation has come to life in my personal project, Buffalo’s Architectural Archive - an ongoing quest to build a beautiful and extensive photographic archive of Buffalo’s incredible architecture.
While I’ve photographed structures dating as far back as the 1810s, I also consistently capture contemporary projects showcasing today’s latest architectural innovation. I approach each commission with careful attention to design intent and the unique story each space has to tell.
I’ve been trusted to photograph more than a dozen Frank Lloyd Wright designs across 4 separate states, of which you can view several here: F.L.W. Architecture. I’ve worked with Non-Profits to photograph multi-party new constructions, as well as Fortune 500 companies to capture their global headquarters.
As a professional architectural photographer with dual citizenship in the United States and Italy, I’m lucky enough offer my services across both the United States and European Union. This has helped me develop a unique appreciation for the local significance of each project, while also gaining a global perspective.
In 2015, I launched Buffalo Homes, a platform dedicated to celebrating Buffalo’s remarkable residential architecture. This idea has not only allowed me to showcase my hometown's architectural beauty but also to connect with a community of over 34,000 followers who share my passion.
It’s important to me that Buffalo’s architectural gems are shown in the most beautiful light they possibly can be and with the photographic quality and eye they deserve. By devoting myself to photographing my own city, I gave myself with the opportunity to photograph other beautiful cities as well.
